History & Projects - Friends of Harvey West Pool

Friends of Harvey West Pool is made up of volunteers and was founded for the purpose of promoting the use of the City of Santa Cruzís municipal pool by citizens of all abilities.

Since December, 2001 we have raised over $28,000 through our Swim-a-thons.

We have

Installed twelve new "Symons Showeroff Metering Shower Valves" with built-in 45 second timers, helping to save thousands of gallons of water as well as save on operating and maintenance costs
purchased and installed solar panels in order to heat the showers in both dressing rooms
sponsored low-income children for swim lessons
sponsored low-income women for enrollment in the Pre-Natal fitness classes
purchased 2 heavy duty water polo cages for use by our popular Water Polo class
purchased a new music & sound system for use by our H20 Exercise instructors
sponsored patients diagnosed w/ diabetes for enrollment in low-impact H20 classes and
purchased pool covers for all 3 pools

Friends of Harvey West Pool is part of the Friends of Parks and Recreation, or FOPAR, a non-profit organization, tax identification # 77-0000693.
